Terms

These terms cover buying and holding a place in the study portal. They are written to be read, not to be got past.

What a membership gives you

Access, for one person, to everything in the portal: the sixth edition of Sales & Service for the Wine Professional in full, the syllabus decks, the quizzes, the pronunciations, the glossary, the maps and the tasting grid — along with whatever is added while you hold a place, at no extra charge.

What it costs

• Six months — £40, charged every six months
• One year — £60, charged every twelve months

Prices are in pounds sterling and include any tax due. Payment is taken by Stripe; the Court never sees or holds your card details.

Renewing and stopping

Both terms renew automatically so that access does not lapse mid-study. You can stop a renewal at any time from your account page, and stopping takes effect at the end of the term you have already paid for — you keep what you bought. If the Court changes the price, it applies from your next renewal and never to a term already paid.

Refunds

If you change your mind within fourteen days of first joining and have not made substantial use of the portal, write to rsayburn@courtofmastersommeliers.org and the payment will be returned in full. This sits alongside your statutory rights and does not replace them.

The account is yours alone

One person, one place. Sharing sign-in details is the one thing that would genuinely damage this for everybody, and an account being used by several people in several places at once may be suspended. Where the Court issues a free place by invitation, the same rule applies.

The material belongs to the Court

The book, the decks, the questions, the recordings and the maps are the property of the Court of Master Sommeliers and its authors. You may read them, study from them and quote briefly from them. You may not copy the portal’s contents, republish them, or use them to teach a course of your own without the Court’s written permission.

What the portal is, and is not

It is the Court’s own study material, made digital. It is not an examination, an assessment, or a guarantee of any result: passing an examination of the Court depends on the examination, not on this portal.

While the portal is in beta

The portal is newly opened and still being finished, which is why it is marked Beta. Sections may change, features may be added or reworked, and there may be faults. If a fault stops you studying, tell us and we will fix it or return the money for the affected time.

Governing law

These terms, and any dispute arising from them, are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction. If you buy as a consumer, this does not remove the protections of the law of the country you live in.
