Registering for the Court’s study portal takes one short form. You choose your own password, and you are signed in the moment the account is made. There is no letter to wait for and no link to click before you can look around.
Registration itself is free. A free account lets you taste the portal, and a membership opens all of it. This guide takes each step in the order you will meet it.
01Step one: create your account
Open the sign-up page, headed ‘Create your account’. It asks for three things and one tick.
Write your real name in the name box. The Court greets you by it, so the form will not accept an email address there. Your password must be at least eight characters, and a ‘Show’ button lets you check what you typed before you send it.
Then press ‘Create account’. The portal signs you in on the spot, and a welcome letter follows by email.
- Name: your full name, as you would like to be greeted.
- Email: the address you will sign in with.
- Password: at least eight characters.
- One tick: you accept the terms, privacy notice and refund policy.
02If the form asks you to look again
Most refusals say exactly what to fix. If your address looks like it has a slip in it, the form asks whether you meant something else, and a second press of ‘Create account’ uses the address exactly as you typed it.
A password found in public lists of leaked passwords is refused, and the form asks for another. An address that already holds an account is sent to sign in instead. Now and then the form simply asks you to press the button once more, to make sure a person is at the keyboard.
